Answer: The artist was Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519. He was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, inventor, anatomist, botanist, and writer. His famous paintings include the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He was a contemporary of the younger Michelangelo (1475-1564).
